PROBLEM:

I would like to use but have misplaced my PC Interface software CD.

SOLUTION:

The PC interface software version 5.1 is compatible with WinXP, VISTA, Win7 and Win8. Contact customer support or email wlutz@wagerusa.com to obtain a copy.

PROBLEM:

How do I change the date

SOLUTION:

Turn the unit on, and press the Zero and Start Test button at the same time.
Display should read “Configuration Mode”. If not, turn meter off and repeat the procedure.

Set Date

Press SELECT twice.

Press ZERO for “set date” mode.

Press ZERO to change date format (toggles between the formats dd/mm and
mm/dd).

Press SELECT to set month 10’s digit. (06-12-98)
Press ZERO to scroll to your correct month 10’s digit.

Press SELECT to set month 1’s digit. (06-12-98)
Press ZERO to scroll to your correct month 1’s digit.

Press SELECT to set day 10’s digit. (06-12-98)
Press ZERO to scroll to your correct day 10’s digit.

Press SELECT to set day 1’s digit. (06-12-98)
Press ZERO to scroll to your correct day 1’s digit.

Press SELECT to set year 10’s digit. (06-12-98)
Press ZERO to scroll to your correct year 10’s digit.

Set Time:

Press the SELECT button. The LED displays the following:
ZERO= set time XXXXX (your current time setting)

Press the ZERO for ”setting mode.”

Press ZERO to change time format (toggles between 12 and 24 hour clock).

Press the SELECT for “hour” mode.
Press ZERO to scroll to your correct hour.

Press the SELECT for “minute 10’s digit mode. (12:00 a.m.)
Press the ZERO to scroll to the correct minute 10’s digit.

Press the SELECT for “minute 1’s digit mode. (12:00 a.m.)
Press the ZERO to scroll to the correct minute 1’s digit.

PROBLEM:

My meter powers on, but it does not perform the 3 test (Snap Acceleration Test).

SOLUTION:

Most likely you are in the “Follow Mode”. When you turn on the meter, after the date / time is displayed, the meter will display on the top line “MODE=FOLLOW”. You actually want the top line to display “MODE=TEST SERIES”. The mode can only be changed during this period and once you see “CALIBRATION COMPLETE”, it is too late to change the mode. Turn off and on the meter, and when you see the MODE= line, press the “zero” button on the keypad to toggle the mode.

PROBLEM:

After replacing the battery, my printer will not print.

SOLUTION:

Open your control unit, and check the orientation of your internal printer
ribbon cable. The “Red” line on the cable should be facing the long edge of the circuit board, not the short edge.

PROBLEM:

My meter is giving me a “cable disconnect” error

SOLUTION:

Examine you cable for damaged (exposed wires) or burn marks. If the cable is damaged, return for repair or replace the cable. If no defect in the cable is visible, try running the optic adjustment procedure.

PROBLEM:

My meter is giving me a “Sensor Head Failure” error
(OPTIC ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE)

SOLUTION:

With the meter off, hold the ZERO and START TEST buttons down while you power on. The meter should display
“CONFIGURATION MODE”.

Press “SELECT” three times
Press “COMPUTE AVERAGE” once
Press “ZERO” followed by “SELECT”

You will now have 3 values on your meter display. The top left number is the LED Drive Value, and may not be adjusted. The number to the right of that is your receiver value, and the number on the bottom left is your transmitter value.

The Receiver and Transmitter values should read 2800. If you have 0 or 10 on either the transmitter or receiver, then most likely your cable is defective. Also, if you have numbers around a 1000, you may be able to adjust the numbers to the proper values. If you have the new style lenses, these values may be adjusted. The old styles of lenses are not adjustable. To determine if you have the old or new style, look at the body of the optics. If the body is pitted and cast aluminum, then you have the old style. If the body is smooth and machined, then you have the new style.

Remove both plastic caps to your sensor head optics.. You will see a potentiometer with a small brass flathead screw. You will need a small flat blade jeweler’s screwdriver. If you don’t see a brass head screw, then you have the old style of lenses are will not be able to continue this procedure. If you turn the screw clockwise, you will increase your value. If you turn it counter clockwise, you will decrease the value. Set the values to 2800 on both the transmitter and receiver. Once you have set your values, turn off the meter and repeat the procedure to verify your values are correct.

PROBLEM:

How do I know which is the receiver and which is the transmitter?

SOLUTION:

Disconnect the cable from the optics and inspect the connectors of the optics. The transmitter has 7 pins and the receiver has 5 pins.

PROBLEM:

I am having trouble with the 6500 pc interface software.

SOLUTION:

The current version of the software is version 5.1. It is compatible with WinXP, VISTA, Win7, and WIN8.
Consult the user manual or the 6500 training video starting at minute 4:48.

PROBLEM:

My verification filter does not read correctly.

SOLUTION:

All systems ship with a neutral density verification filter and the associated document. For example, the filters value is 35.4%. If your filter is reading higher than the expected value, then most likely your filter is dirty. Clean the filter with a dry clean cloth (no solvents or solutions) and then look at the surface of the filter (not trough the fitler) looking at the surface at a 45 degree angle. This way you will see the reflection of the light and will be able to see small particles / fibers. If your filter is reading lower, then most likely the filter has degraded. In either case of reading high after cleaning or reading low, run the optic procedure and then test the filter again. If the filter is still reading incorrectly, then you can either send the filter in for recertification or order a replacement filter.

PROBLEM:

My printer will only print when I hold the on button or my printer will only print half the report.

SOLUTION:

Typically, in either case, the battery pack in the printer needs replacing.

PROBLEM:

My control unit will only run off AC power or my control unit charging light will not flash

SOLUTION:

Measure the voltage coming out of your AC power pack. If the voltage is less than 12 volts, your charger is
defective. If the voltage is above 12 volts, disconnect all cables from the control unit, remove the two
screws and separate the top lid from the bottom housing. Measure the voltage of the battery. If the voltage
of the battery is 11 volts or below, then replace the battery.
